Porch Time with Judee

We certainly had a unique and enjoyable encounter while photographing the historic homes of Las Vegas. Within minutes of snapping a few photos of this splendid Victorian, we found ourselves relaxing on the porch of Judee Williams ... sipping iced tea and getting to know a new friend. Judee calls this experience porch time.

Judee filled us in on the history of her home ... an Eastlake Victorian built in 1883 for the railroad superintendent ... eventually falling into the hands of a college fraternity (with amusing stories of a coffin and cannon) ... and her restoration efforts during the past 30 years.

Until 2006, the house was painted a light brown ... but after a hail storm stripped away some paint ... Judee discovered the original green color. Her efforts garnered a Residential Exterior Improvement Award from the local  Historic Preservation Committee. Well done!

Judee also filled us in on other restoration projects, local gossip and happenings around town ... and provided us with information that helped make our visit to Las Vegas even more enjoyable. What seemed like just a few minutes turned into an hour of relaxation and pleasant conversation.

As we parted company Judee gave us an abrazo ... and we left with the feeling that we had arrived as strangers but departed as friends.
